Blog With A Purpose

I was watching a TV commercial today about a ballerina who was talking about her blog. She was explaining that she blogged while backstage and so on, presumably about ballerina things.

This got me thinking about what makes a good blog.

The best blogs that I can remember seeing are from people who have a certain occupation and their blogging about their occupation. The ballerina blog looked like it would be interesting if you followed that sort of the thing.

I also read a blog written by a teacher once and it was about what was happening in the classroom, etc. What made it interesting is that there was a theme.

Then you have blogs like this one that seem to have no theme or focal point, just random musings. I suppose that at times this can be amusing but it seems to me that it would be hard to generate a solid following.

So I'm thinking about reworking this blog around a theme. It would have to be something that I do a lot of so that I had enough material to talk about on a daily basis.

Right now I'm "between jobs" as they say and getting ready to go back school. So really, I have no main theme to discuss, unless you want a play by play of what's happening on MySpace each day.

I will give it some thought but in the meantime I will continue to contribute random commentary and musings. Hope all of you continue to enjoy.

  1. I always thought that blogging was completely and utterly stupid, until I tried it, it seems kind of therapeutic in some ways. A lot of times people don't care about you day, life or your thoughts. If you put it in a blog it gives you a dumping ground for your thoughts that other wise would go to the brains trash can. theme or no theme I enjoy reading now more than ever. The stupidity receiver (TV) is just the governments way of mind control (LOL I'll blog about that later):-) keep writing.
