So I Was Wrong!

I predicted Clinton would defeat Obama in the primaries and I guess I've been proven wrong.

For the last few presidential elections, I predicted the winners of the primaries based on their names. Names that sounded presidential would win over those that didn't.

I mean, do you think we could ever vote for a president named Dukakis or Giuliani? When you look back at all the presidents, they all have nice, strong, easy to pronounce, American names.

So I figured there's no way Obama could win, simply because his name was foreign to most Americans.

So now, as we leave the primaries and head in to the election, I think McCain has the upper hand. Sure he has an Irish name but nearly all of the negative stigma with Irish-Americans is gone, if not reversed. But there still remains a lot of negative stigma with people who's names sound Arabic.

Obama winning, I believe, has actually done a great disservice to the Democratic party. It's now that much easier for McCain to defeat him. He could sit back and rest for the next five months and still win.

But unfortunately, he's not sitting back and resting. He's going on the offensive, recently creating a slogan and logo that mirrors and pokes fun at Obama's slogan and logo. He's turned petty politician.

The one thing McCain had going for him was that he came across as an honest, hard-working American. But now, with this new campaign tactic, he comes across as just another blubbering politician.

Obama on the other hand, is collecting thank yous and support for Clinton on his web site. He's a class act.

Obama has the edge here now. He is definitely not the usual politician. He's different. And that may help him win the election this year.

  1. I hate to admit it but I to was looking for Hilary to bring home the nomination.

I would never vote for her because she is on the wrong ticket for me but I did want to see her succeed.

As far as McCain being a typical politician, did you expect anything else? You wouldn't hire a plumber to fix your electric breaker.

Let the best man win (McCain)!
