In general, Republicans don't favor regulation of the economy. This lack of regulation is one reason we're in this mess.
The article notes that Greenspan didn't favor regulation because, don't worry, the big businesses can regulate themselves! They'' exercise restraint and not be too greedy!
Next the article says it was in part caused by the Bush tax cuts in 2001, which mostly went to the wealthy and thus did not stimulate the economy.
Finally, the big thing that caused this mess, was the Iraq War. It caused oil prices to skyrocket!
So do you think McCain, from the Republican Party, will continue the typical Republic tactics for managing the economy? Tax cuts to businesses and the wealthy?
Republicans think these tax cuts produce jobs. But in today's global economy, these cuts give companies incentives to send jobs overseas.
Democrats, on the other hand, prefer to give the tax cuts to the middle class. That way they have more money to spend, more things to buy, increasing demand of things and creating jobs when companies need to make more things to meet demand.
There you have it, the fundamental differences between Republicans and Democrats in a nutshell. Let's see, what else can I put in a nutshell?
