Blasting My Opinions

Blast my opinions? Isn't that what we are here for? Isn't that what you (Firefighter) are doing with your Christian propaganda?

To retort... You're right, you can't prove that there is a God. No one can. I'll go one step further and say that no human can know for sure whether or not there is a God. All that we know about God, Jesus, and anything for that matter, is a construct of the human mind. Therefor we cannot say whether or not God exists. That's call agnosticism.

To answer the Christian propagandist Marylin Adamson's pathetic evidence for a God...

1. The complexity of our planet doesn't point to anything. Science has demonstrated that it is all within the realm of physics. While it is amazing that the planet formed the way it did and we evolved on the planet, we don't know enough about the situation to make any judgments about who created the Universe. Adamson mentions on her website which you linked that "water" is so special on Earth and she implies that it must be because God put it here. Water is not unique to Earth. Scientists are finding water all over the Universe. There are even moons of Saturn that are full of water. Water is not that special. It just so happens that we evolved on a planet that had water, thus we would evolve to depend on it.

2. The human brain is no more complex in it's basic components than any other animal brain. The brain is a bunch of nerve cells grouped together. The very fact that every animal, insect, fish, etc. has a brain just goes to show that we have all evolved from a common ancestor that had a brain, two eyes, a way to breath, extremities like arms and legs, sex organs, etc. Pure coincidence? Proof of "creation"? Or just basic evolution at work...

3. Evolution doesn't say that everything happened by chance. We clearly understand that evolution works on a principal like trial and error. Organisms mutate, these mutations either make life better or make life worse. Those with the better mutations survive, breed, have more organisms like them. Just because you don't understand something doesn't automatically mean it must have been created by some supernatural being.

4. Ignoring the passion of those who believe in God? What does that mean? Scientific discoveries point to increased complexity and thus proof of a creator? I don't get the connection. Just because the Universe is more complex than we thought doesn't mean in any way that it was created. If the Universe were created, it seems it would make more sense than it does and show more order. And just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right. A majority of pre-WWII Germans thought Jews should be exterminated. Did that make it right? These Germans believed in God too. They even found "proof" for their superiority in the Bible!

5. God exists because he pursues us? What? I don't feel that I'm being pursued. Do you? If you think in your head that someone is pursuing you, you might want to get professional help.

6. Jesus proved he is the incarnation of God because he did what humans can't do? A lot of people did that back then and still do today. We still have faith healers who "heal" people in Jesus' name. Back when Jesus lived, a lot of people were in that business. Back then, everyone believed it too because they didn't have science. Oddly enough, we have no proof of any of these supernatural feats Jesus accomplished. Just like we have no proof of the supernatural acts performed by his contemporaries. If Jesus showed up today, he'd be locked in an insane asylum quicker than you can... do something. In fact, I'm sure there are a lot of people locked up right now who believe they are Jesus!

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which comes online this year will begin to unravel the secrets of the big bang and with an aim to describing pre-big bang situation.
This is a 17mile circumference particle accelerator, the largest man made machine.
What will be your stance in a few years time when the answers to the creation of this universe (Latest credible hypothesises show it's not unique) as accurately predicted started from simple beginnings and not from some super complex elusive everlasting god?
How far back can you keep going, the gaps are vanishing.

Just remember it was only in 1927 was the big bang was theorized, since then we've lots and lots of evidence thanks to WMAP and Hubble Space Telescope. A large majority of Einsteins theories have been tested so accurately it's awesome. He was an atheist contrary to popular Christian beliefs.

The worlds largest machine in pursuit of knowlegde is being built in switzerland...
