I had to take the Honda to the dealer in Hagerstown for a repair which gave me two hours in the car to listen to talk radio.
I was "fortunate" enough to catch both Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.
Glenn Beck, CNN's token conservative, is such a moron. He is so vehemently opposed to global warming and protecting the planet that he likely leaves all his lights on at home just to waste electricity.
Last time I heard Beck on the radio, he was ranting about how global warming is a myth and how we should all drive big SUVs and leave our lights on. This time he was encouraging someone whose child was invited to donate money to an environmental group in lieu of gifts at a party (an odd story unto itself) to donate to a logging lobby group instead.
And he's supposed to be a good Mormon Christian? What does God say about destroying the environment? God gave you this Earth and you want to willfully destroy it, Mr. Beck?
But the funniest thing was when Beck went to a commercial, on my local AM station where the motto is "Left on the dial but Right on the issues," there was a commercial for StopGlobalWarming.org. Ha! Take that Beck!
And now for Limbaugh. Another moron. He was reading an article on the best and worst selling cars in America. He said that there was not one hybrid car on the list of best nor worst. So he made the assumption that hybrid cars must be selling so poorly, they couldn't even make the "worst list."
First, common sense might tell us that if it's not on the "worst" list nor the "best" list, it must be somewhere in the middle. That makes sense because the list of worst sellers would likely include the absolute worst selling car and several cars above that car in ascending order of cars sold.
But no, Limbaugh, to advance his anti-environmental, conservative cause, automatically concludes that there are cars that sold in numbers even fewer than the one at the bottom of the "worst" list.
That was my first guess about Limbaugh's mistake until I got home and read the article, which I would assume Limbaugh had done.
The article clearly states that hybrid car sales are included in the numbers of the model for that car. For example, the Civic has both hybrid and gas-powered variations, both of which are included in the number of Civics sold (sixth on the best seller list).
Maybe Limbaugh should consider first reading the articles about which he is talking.
When will you realize global warming is just another business. Just like crime, no one wants to end crime because too much money is being spent on it. Global warming is in the same category. Your piece of crap buddy Al Gore is making millions on global warming.. It's just good business. The planet doesn't need saving, it will be here long after we are gone.
ReplyDeleteYou're close but you have it backwards. It's in the best interest of big companies (read conservative Republicans) to deny global warming exists.
ReplyDeleteIf it's true that humans impact the environment, big companies have to start spending tons of money to clean up their business.
It also puts them at risk for being sued, like the oil companies in Alaska who were sued for causing global warming.
Also, if people start moving away from business that harms the environment, big business is going to hurt the most.
That's why it is so difficult for alternative energy companies to do business. They are being shut down by big energy business.
It's a conspiracy, man!
