April 15th 1998

It has been eleven years since my mother passed away. Every year on the 15th of April I look back at how the things have changed. My son and daughter who were just knee high didn't understand why grandma had to go away, not an easy thing to explain to children. My mother thought my son walked on water and was the smartest little boy in the world, boy would she be surprised how he has changed.

Eleven years later my son is now sixteen, old enough to drive a car. My daughter an ornery teenager at the ripe old age of fourteen and a half, she makes every day a joy. It seems eleven years is only one nights sleep,a few eye blinks and a hand full of memories.

I spent the day today with my brother, he came down to the fire house while I was working and made us lunch. I didn't think he needed reminded of the date and it's significance so we never spoke of it, I knew he remembered. Mom told the two of us we were going to need each other someday, so we should try and get along with each other. Ya, that helped, I never was much good at following orders. Especially from mom. Besides a good fight between brother makes for good entertainment. Just kidding, we get along just fine.
