Well Randy and I are trying to get into a shape other than round before our second epic journey this June. We are again riding the C&O Towpath from Cumberland MD about 80 to 100 miles out and back to Cumberland. Last year we made the trip 184+ miles to Washington DC but this year we are cost cutting by going out then back. Last year we rented a truck in DC to get us back to Cumberland, that's just not in this years budget. Again we will be camping and bringing all of our supplies with us. Short by one person we will be a group of three this year and hope to spend more time camping and less time worrying about time and distance.
Sunday, my son Randy and I went on our 20 mile training trip that we do twice a week. This was the first time my son attended, at the age of 16 he couldn't hang with the old man. I hope by the end of this summer he can ride circles around me. After riding about 16 miles or so I had a little problem. My nose was a little constricted, so with on sweeping motion I did a little thumb scrape of the nose. I got nothing from it but with a hardy sniff, a booger went right down my throat. Not to be had by the booger I quickly un-ate my booger. Yes I hocked that little sucker up and spit it out. Now that has to be the first time I have ever un-ate a booger. Amazing the things that happen while out on the bicycle.
I am thinking of buying a new ride this year, I found a real nice (big azz) bicycle at a local sporting goods store. With a price tag of $269 it is going to have to wait. I am really thinking about buying it, especially after everyone made fun of my early 90's Huffy I rode last time. We will have to see what the future holds. I post a picture of it, it is the white bike. It is a Thruster 3.0 Energy not sure what all that means but I like it.
Better than that, look for a used 80s, or 90s Specialized Expedition.
