Senate passes measure to allow gun transport on Amtrak.

Now wait a darn minute, the federal government can dictate how Amtrak does business due to Federal Subsidies?

Senate passes measure to allow gun transport on Amtrak.

"The Senate measure says Amtrak would lose federal subsidies if it prohibits passengers from bringing their guns on board under restrictions similar to those imposed on airlines."

Gee even being a pro gun advocate and a friend to the 2nd amendment I wouldn't stand for politicians coming and telling me how to run my business. Amtrak says with out the funding from the big Gov it would shut down. I guess that leaves them no choice.

Thats what worries me about Obamcare, no choice. How can Corporations compete against rates from a non profit Gov. program. Private insurance will fold and Obamacare will prevail. A business without profit is an out of business business.

Role of the government. Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1809, "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

Insurance companies employ a lot of people, Obama is going to put them straight out of work.

  1. The government always tells you what to do if they give you money! Who do you think sets speed limits? The states technically have the power but since the feds give the states Federal Highway finds, they say "We're not giving you money unless you lower the limit." Why do you think your kids have to take the state standards test in school? Because the feds say (as part of "No Child Left Behind") "if you don't make them take this test, we're not giving you federal education funding." If the feds are giving the state money, you can be sure there are strings attached.
