First Check Ride

Yesterday I completed the first big check ride for our epic bike trip from Cumberland to Washington D.C. I went the other way on that trail, from Cumberland to Frostburg and back, a 32 mile trip. I made it in just under three hours.

The trip to Frostburg is all uphill. And I really mean all uphill. There is not even the slightest decline or flat land on the entire 16 mile stretch. It parallels an old train track so at least it's a steady and relatively easy climb.

I made it there in 1.5 hours. The return trip was much easier and took less time.

After the trip, of course my butt was sore but I felt that I could ride it again the same afternoon if I had to. Today, the following day, I feel fine.

I'm ready for the big trip!

  1. We are gearing up for another trial run on Saturday. I think it's a 20 mile trek? I'll take some pictures.
