I received a mailing the other day from my esteemed congressman, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, about immigration. It was very interesting reading that I think deserves comment here.
Rep. Bartlett is strongly opposed to any amnesty deals that would allow illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. a free pass and a chance to become citizens. As he points out, why should we reward people for illegal behavior?
What's next, are we going to forgive all petty theft up until this point and allow the thieves to keep their loot? Oh, but crossing into the U.S. is a victimless crime, you say? They're not hurting anyone, they're actually helping business owners with cheap labor.
Oh, that's real nice, let's forgive the illegals and the business owners taking advantage of the situation. There are lots of other "victimless crimes" that we aren't going to forgive anytime soon.
I say let's stick with the laws we have on the books and enforce them the way they were meant to be enforced. If you want to come to this country, which I fully support since we are a nation of immigrants anyway, come here the legal way.
As Rep. Bartlett notes, the U.S. brings in more than 2 million immigrants each year and grants citizenship to 700,000, all through legal and established means.
I couldn't agree with you more. The concept of illegal immigrants being forgiven and being a victim less crime is insane.
ReplyDeleteCase in point, about 3 months ago I was called to an auto accident, vehicle fire with entrapment. There were 2 fire engines, 2 rescue trucks and a squad called to the scene. All volunteer crews. The vehicle was down over an embankment in a small creek. The drive, an illegal immigrant from the local tree farm had wrecked his truck and realizing it was on fire, swam down this small water way to get away from the flames.
This guy was so drunk he couldn't even hold himself up, on him was his poor fake ID. A blind man would be able to tell it was fake.
It was a single vehicle accident but what if? What if he would have hit someone else, or someone had come around the corner and hit one of us? Who pays his hospital bill?
I hear so many people say "they do jobs that we don't want to do" Like asbestos removal, chicken farms, tree farms and poor paying labor jobs. So what is it worth it?
Last winter one of our local illegal tree workers died, no one seems to know of what he died from. The CDC was called in to investigate. Several Mexican works were rounded up and put in lock down because of this unknown blood bacteria found in the dead guy. All the EMS works that responded to the scene had to get shots to protect them from what this illegal was carrying. The hospital had to check out over 50 some said illegals that worked the tree farm, only one was deported. The dead guy! Now that makes sense. Who payed that bill and why were the others allowed to stay.
The CDC and it's affiliates have been doing a good job keeping these kinds of problems to a minimum but now we are letting illegals bring disease back into our country.
Enter the victims, the ones that catch these bugs from the illegals. There are no victim less crimes. Someone always gets hurt somehow.
Let the border patrol do there job!
