According to a story on Yahoo! News today, evangelical Christians are hotly debating whether or not divorce is permitted by the Bible.
It seems that people now think that Jesus didn't quite mean what they thought he meant. Looking back on the translated route the Bible has taken, from Hebrew to Greek and then to numerous other languages today, as well as putting everything into the context of the time, divorce is OK.
And all this time, evangelical Christians thought it was not OK. That's a burden lifted off their shoulders I'm sure.
It's a good thing they figured that out because the Bible is "The Word of God." I mean, you can't go around violating the word of God. You have to live your life to the letter.
Did you know that women are not allowed speaking in church? (1 Corinthians 14:34-35.) And did you know that women should never be teachers and they must learn in silence for fear that they will take authority away from men? (1 Timothy 2:11-14.)
And clearly, as God told Moses, women are worth less than men. To be exact, men from 20 to 60 years old are worth 50 shekels while women in the same age range are only worth 30. (Leviticus 27:1-7.) (Note: 1.00 Israeli Shekel = 0.2542 U.S. Dollar)
And remember, Jesus didn't come here to spread peace on earth and all that good stuff, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34.)
If any of that came as a surprise to you, you are not living a proper Christian life. I suggest you check out this web site to learn how. (Take a quiz to learn just how much you don't know!)
