Here we go again and again and again

The P word, the worst one ever.

I was thumbing (internet) through different news articles and came across some disturbing research data. Now I must admit, I am not the nation's top authority on recourse consumption or global warming but I have to comment on this tidbit of brain drool. After much thought (2.5 seconds), I had to look away and take a deep breath. It is easy to see why opponents of alternative fuels would want to stop progress, money. But who is right here, the Gore group or opponents of alternative fuels.

"Experts report biodiesel production, in particular, is causing the destruction of virgin rainforests and their rich biodiversity, as well as a sharp rise in greenhouse gas emissions." There goes the neighborhood again. So biodiesel is a no go. I wonder who did the research on that one?

How about wind mills for electricity ? Nope, bad idea too. Kills birds. So if I go find a wind mill and look around the base I'll find a pile of birds or a group of fat cats. "Wind? Shreds migratory bird populations."

Nuke power, not in my neighborhood please. I'll pass on that one.

Lets just cut all the trees down, dump oil in the ocean and burn all the wood we can find and get it over with.

Energy consumption and the environment are going to be our children's biggest issue in the near future. There is a very real need to find alternatives before we kill our planet or end up back in the stone age. Politicians and special interest groups are going to blast each other back and forth for years to come. Study after study is going to be done some real and some fake but there is a way we can all chip in. You know Washington isn't going to help, we are on our own. Lets just try to keep it green, a tree here, a tree there. Recycle, conserve and be smart about the choices you make.
