Mit Romney tells us that his religion shouldn't matter in his bid for the presidency. He's a Mormon and I think people are just now starting to realize this.
Most conservative or evangelical Christians think The Church of Latter Day Saints, aka the Mormon Church, is a cult. The sect was formed by Joseph Smith Jr. in 1830 and its followers believe that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri; when Jesus returns, he'll come from Missouri; and the The Book of Mormon, their sacred script, was translated from several "plates" left behind by Jesus and buried in Smith's backyard in New York. The President of the Church is considered to be a prophet, just like Jesus.
That's completely believable.
There are also conspiracies about the Mormon plan to take over the U.S government. The church puts an emphasis on government service and it seems, based on my observation, that a proportionally high number of Mormons work in the government today.
I've also heard a rumor that the Mormons own UPS, which they would use to move supplies around in the event of a Mormon take-over of the country. I can't find this on the Internet though.
Yeah, I'm sure Romney will have no trouble getting elected.
