As you can see, it is a bit of an obsession of mine. I love paranormal things. Yesterday I watched a show on The History Channel about "Champ," the Loch Ness-like monster who lives in Lake Champlain.
The evidence presented painted a pretty convincing case that there is some weird monster living in the lake. There is only one really good picture of the monster and even that is sketchy at best. But what really intrigued me was the bio-sonar recordings.
A specialist in animal noises recorded sounds from the lake that were very similar to the echo-location, or bio-sonar, that is used by killer whales and a few other sea creatures to find food and communicate. But there are no known fresh-water creatures that use echo-location. So what in Lake Champlain is making that sound?
Another interesting piece of evidence was an eyewitness siting. A woman who lived on the lake said she saw two large sea monsters, on two separate occasions, crawling from the woods into the lake. They both stopped under a light near what looked like a boat ramp so she was able to get a good look. That's bizarre.
Even more bizarre, "Champ" has been put on the endangered species list by the government (state or federal, I forget).
