Head for the Hills!

Ah ha! And here it is, the precursor to the apocalypse. One day people will look back on this and say, "See, this was one of the first signs that things were going bad, but everyone ignored it."

An entire town in Alaska is being forced to relocate, at cost of $400 million, because of rising sea levels due to arctic warming. The town is suing the big oil companies for causing global warming.

Big Oil is also being sued because they are leading the charge to tell people that global warming is not really man-made.

Even better, in Finland, they have had record warm temperatures this year, making for better crop harvests. The dark side to this, of course, is that the warming could lead to increased mold and bacteria growth.

It reminds me of the something I just read. The book "Collapse" by Jared Diamond. He talks about the failed Norse colony in Greenland. The Norse were able to expand as far as Greenland, perhaps during a period of warm weather. The weather got worse and they had damaged the environment so the entire colony was wiped out.

I'm glad I've moved to high ground. Now to work on my underground shelter and fortifications.

  1. Maybe with the new incoming president, energy conservation could spark a fire under our dim economy. One can hope right? Done correctly a market could be created and used to fuel the economy and improve living conditions for everyone current and future. I have told you before my biggest concern is the future of our fresh water. These things go hand in hand.
