Solo glove test

I went out today for a little ride, around 10 to 15 miles. I didn't feel the need to count the time or mileage, it was more of a test to see how my new gloves worked. My new gloves preformed well, I am very happy with them. My hands didn't go numb and didn't sweat.

Now the sweating thing, I have once again rethought my fluid supply. I am going to take Gatorade or Propel water. I sweat like a pig out there today. The mid day sun was a mother! Being a large framed (fat) person, I really sweat. I am going to need more than water to replenish my fluids.

About half way through my trip it started to pour down some serious rain. I was drenched from head to toe. So I have completed my rain ride challenge. The rain was a welcome refresher. It really cooled me down.

I missed my riding buddy, the solo trip wasn't near as fun without him. I rode from my house to Hanover, through Hanover to the trailer park. I jumped up on the bike path from the trailer park and rode to Dayton Rd. From Dayton Rd. I rode down to Butler Rd. and finished a 1/2 mile up at the ball field were my daughter was playing a game.

It felt good getting some fresh air into the bottom of my lungs. I never would have thought that riding a bike would be so much fun. I picked up an event schedule at the Bike Doctor. There are riding events clear up until September. Once we get back from our epic journey, I'll have to see if the boys want to mix in with a crowd. Sounds like it might be fun. A bicycle poker run.

I have to thank my buddy M3 for the invite to travel the C&O. If it weren't for him I never would have sat on a bicycle again. Also I have to thank Randy for my new ride. He bought a new bike and I got his old one. I do like it better than the one I started with. For some reason it rides much better.

Not close enough to count the days but our trip is getting closer by the day.

  1. We'll have you sweatin' off the pounds. You don't need Gatorade, just drink water!
